BHN is a safe and inclusive service. You are safe and welcome to tell us anything you want, including information about gender, pronouns, sexuality, cultural identity, and disability. But you do not have to.
We only share your information with your permission, or if required by law*.
We share information with the government or other agencies that fund or research the service you are accessing. You will not be identified in the data we share. We follow the law including the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles.
*We may be required by law to share your information without needing your consent under the following conditions;
- If it is necessary to ensure the safety and wellbeing of a child
- If there is a serious threat to an individual’s life, health or safety and/or to assess or manage family violence risks
- Some staff are required under mandatory reporting legislation to report to Child Protection Services any information that suggests child abuse or neglect has occurred
- We are required to follow the law under the Child Information Sharing Scheme, Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme and under the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework
